 The 6th biennial State of Lake Michigan and the 9th annual Great Lakes Beach Association Conference was held in Milwaukee, Septemeber 29th-October 1st, at the Hyatt Regency, located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, near the famed Riverwalk.  Thank-you to everyone for making the conference a success!

The conference featured:

  • Two plenary sessions
  • Twenty-three topical sessions with 150 presentations
  • A poster paper reception  
  • Five field trips
  • Workshops and adjunct meetings

The conference convenes elected officials, scientists, resource managers, planners, students, and citizens working to improve Great Lakes beaches and Lake Michigan. The information presented is used to revise the Lake Michigan Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP) and to improve beach management and public health protection. Authorized under the US-Canada Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, the LaMP is a plan of action to assess, restore and protect the health of the Lake Michigan ecosystem. For more information, see the Lake Michigan Lakewide Management Plan.
