This encyclopedic reference to 157 fish species found in Wisconsin has become a model for all other such works. Many of the species are also found in much of the Great Lakes region and Mississippi River watershed. In addition to thorough species accounts, Becker discusses the history and policy of water resources and fisheries management.

UW Sea Grant, UW Center for Limnology and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources have partnered to produce this Web site to help Wisconsinites identify native fish. Users can identify a fish by physical features, family, or species. The site also provides a list of all Wisconsin fish and a glossary of terms.

Wisconsin Fish: Fish Species
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources provides identification assistance and other information about selected species of fish commonly found in Wisconsin waters.
