Wisconsin Fish Identification Software

By John Lyons, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; Paul Hanson, UW Center for Limnology; and Elizabeth White, UW Aquatic Sciences Center

Not sure what you caught? This fish identification software provides more than 4,000 searchable photographs to help identify any fish found in Wisconsin waters, including the Great Lakes.

Users can identify an individual specimen by selecting from a list of species with particular physical characteristics (such as forked tail or banded body pattern) and then narrow down the list of species by selecting additional characteristics.

Each species has a page of its own, with multiple photographs taken from many different perspectives, text descriptions of anatomical details, and a description of species with a similar appearance.

Also included is a taxonomic key, illustrated glossary, and illustrated guide to fish anatomy.

System Requirements: Windows 2000 or XP Operating System, 64 MB RAM, 350 MB HD Space
