Arsenic in Groundwater

Revised 2012, 4-page Fact Sheet

For further information, contact Moira Harrington, email moira@aqua.wisc.edu

Arsenic is odorless, tateless, and occurs naturally in rock formations. Groundwater in many Wisconsin counties has elevated arsenic levels, which may lead to an increased risk of certain cancers and other health problems. The GCC (Groundwater Coordinating Council) coordinates groundwater research and monitoring efforts in Wisconsin.
