Dr. Cardiff works with communities facing water supply problems due to PFAS contamination of groundwater. His research group has assisted communities with developing sampling campaigns and monitoring networks, and he has developed tools for residents and regulators to better understand field-scale dynamics of PFAS contamination. In particular, he has contributed to analyses assessing the safety of municipal drinking water installations, including the Town of Campbell’s $40 million project to move residents from private well use to a municipal drinking water system
