Work on PFAS in Xuejun Pan’s lab
- Development of Biomass‑Derived Adsorbents: We design and fabricate advanced biomass‑derived materials—such as cellulose gels and foams, as well as carbon aerogels—with tailored morphology, surface chemistry, and functional groups to enable selective, high‑capacity adsorption and removal of PFAS from water.
- Downstream Management of PFAS‑Loaded Biosorbents: We investigate sustainable strategies for handling PFAS‑containing biosorbents, including catalytic degradation of PFAS into harmless compounds, as well as recovery, purification, and value‑added utilization of the resulting materials.
